The Model 70 has set the standard for bolt-action rifles since its introduction in 1936. It features a renowned 3-position safety that can be easily manipulated with the thumb of your shooting hand, effectively disengaging the firing pin from the sear. Crafted from a solid block of steel, the forged steel receiver has a flat bottom profile that enhances bedding surface area. It is secured with a two-part epoxy at both the front and rear, preventing any movement within the stock during firing. The rifle employs a classic Controlled Round Feed (CRF) bolt mechanism, which includes a robust claw extractor that securely grips about a quarter of the cartridge base. This design ensures complete control over the cartridge from magazine to chamber, allowing for reliable extraction of unfired cartridges even if they are not fully chambered. The M.O.A. Trigger System is recognized as the most accurate three-lever trigger system available, providing improved fit, finish, and accuracy alongside its traditional Pre-’64 controlled round feeding. A blade-type ejector offers precise control during case ejection. The free-floating barrel is button rifled, ensuring exceptional accuracy and longevity.
